Round Top Recovering ..........
Well, it's been two weeks since we have returned from Round Top and things are starting to get back to normal. We had a wonderful time, beautiful weather, sold tons of things (thanks to you) & made many new friends (again, thanks to you).
It's such a rewarding experience to watch your excitement as you load up items we carefully selected with you in mind. Due to our overwhelming success at La Bahia this show, we are on the hunt to replace those one of kind special pieces you love.
Additionally, we are now carrying beautiful upholstered headboards & Traditions by Pamela Kline custom bedding. Both are gorgeous and a "must see" so plan on stopping by and see our beautiful bed.

Change. Is it a good thing?
When I think of Spring I automatically start thinking about change. Just the mention of the season sends us ladies into a frenzy! Time to rearrange the furniture, update the decor, switch wardrobes, re-set all the clocks, plant new flowers...... The list is endless and it's all about change.
Spring certainly means change for us here at The Old Oak Cottage. The county has decided to make changes so we have piles of dirt and pipe out front along with backhoes, dump trucks and an army of workers. The Cottage & Showroom are both sporting new looks for this latest season and the upcoming Easter holiday. Marci is in Idaho now, starting this new season of her life working on plans for her new home. As for me, Round Top is March 30th - April 7th so I've got plenty of work to do!
Even though change is often inconvenient or usually uncomfortable it can be a good thing. Change means growth, life, hope. All things we need in our lives.

Fabulous Finds
Well, we are back from Atlanta Market and super excited for you to see what we have in store! Below are just some of the wonderful, fabulous items that have already arrived:
This great frame just looks heavy. It is actually very light weight, yet looks fabulously old! |
We love, love, loved these prints on canvas and just couldn't resist. |
These framed architectural prints have that wonderful vintage look, and they are only $19.95 each! |
Who couldn't find a place to put these awesome hanging wire pendants? Over a desk, beside a bed, over a table, accent a painting . . . the possibilities are endless. They are $45 each. |
We also loved this tin framed mirror. It's magnetic too!! |
We have had this smaller column pedestal before, now we have them in both sizes. Great to have on hand when redecorating - always need some height. |
COMING SOON: Traditions by Pamela Kline Bedding! Gorgeous Duvets, Coverlets, Shams, and Bed skirts that can be ordered in your choice of fabric! They are Bella Notte quality but at half the price! We ordered a whole ensemble to display with our new UPHOLSTERED HEADBOARDS (coming in March)!
Our "Spring Fling" will be coming soon, and plans for a Spring Huffman Shop Hop are underway. Check out the facebook page for details.
If you haven't met the new Manager, Pam yet, please stop in and do so. Also, Crystal, our In-House Designer is here on Fridays to help with any decorating dilemmas (or fabric choices for your new bedding!).
This will be my last blog post. I will miss you all. I have greatly appreciated your business and support over the years, and hope you will continue to support The Old Oak Cottage and The Cottage Showroom.
Blessings to you all,
Marci

2012 - New Beginnings at the Cottage
I really don't know where to begin with this message. First, the bad news I guess - my husband has accepted a job in Idaho and I will be moving in February. I have known it was a possibility for a couple months now, and have spent that time grieving and praying. I have been grieving because I love what I do. I have gotten to be friends with many of my customers and will miss seeing their smiling faces. The cottage has finally become profitable after years of labor; and it has really just begun to grow to what I know it can be.
The good news is the answer to my prayers. I have found a wonderful gal who loves the cottage almost as much as I do (if that's possible) to take it over. Her name is Pam Wiggs. She has been in the antiques business for many years, seems to like everything I do, and has a knack for finding (and displaying) the greatest stuff! AND, she is probably the sweetest person I have ever met! She currently has a little building at Ellen's Timeless Treasures in Humble, called "Pickering Hollow". Be sure to go to her facebook page and check out some of her stuff: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pickering-Hollow/287393088517
She will begin working with me this month, and we will be traveling to the Atlanta Market together January 12th - 16th. Kendra will be here that Friday and Saturday for our semi-annual "Come and Play While the Owners Away Sale".
Really, things won't be changing too much around here. Jennifer of Metamorphose Upholstery and Furniture will be staying; as well as Crystal our in-house designer. Crystal will be in on Thursday's the next two weeks, then back to her usual Fridays. Stop by on those days if you have any decorating dilemmas you would like her assistance with.
Meanwhile, this isn't really goodbye yet, as I will be around this month. Please stop by to meet Pam; and I hope you will continue to support The Old Oak Cottage.
LOL (my mom says that means "Lots of Love"),
Marci
